School sporting programs

 

Enrichment programs are a vital component of the general curriculum and often reflect the vitality and general health of a school. Some of the activities that enrich Yea Primary School are:-


* SKIPPING TEAM Students can join the school's 'Jump Rope For Heart' demonstration team which is sponsored by The Heart Foundation and The Sony Foundation. We are the only demonstration team in the Hume region and we perform at community events and at other local schools.

* STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL A chance to have influence on decision  making processes.

* SINGING GROUP Children in Grades Prep to Six have the opportunity to join the school singing group.

* EXCURSIONS Children have the opportunity to participate in overnight excursions  and camps.

* INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC Students have the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments.

* SCHOOL MUSICAL & STUDENT ASSEMBLIES The opportunity for children to entertain and show their talents.

* SCHOOL SPORT Athletics, Cross Country, Swimming and inter-school competition in the major games.

* TENNIS LESSONS Students have the opportunity to learn tennis during the lunch break.

* TRANSITION Year Six students link into Secondary Education at Yea High School.

* TRANSITION Pre-School children link into Primary Education at Yea Primary School.

* SCHOOL PUBLICATIONS Contributions to Newsletters and the School Year Book.

* RELIGIOUS EDUCATION An optional, weekly 30 minute session providing instruction from the approved Christian Education Syllabus.

* PERCEPTUAL MOTOR PROGRAM (PMP) - a motor skills and language program.

* PEER SUPPORT PROGRAM A buddy system that links the younger children to the senior students.

*GRADE 6 LEADERSHIP PROGRAM Year Six students participate in a Leadership Program throughout their final year in primary school.
